House Megan

The brief for this house in Riebeeck Kasteel, in addition to a tight budget, called specifically for a circular pool and a curved wall.  To avoid the contrived nature of a curved wall for the sake of it, we made it the main driver of the design - a central circular courtyard garden with a bullseye pool in its centre.

The internal program of the house is split up into four simple boxes of varying heights, which all intersect the circle at their corners to create an interesting sculptural quality almost as if by accident.  Stainless steel wires span the spaces between these boxes, allowing greenery to provide low cost shade for the carport and stoep.
